Alex Albon: It was a fight for survival

None of the Williams drivers managed to reach the finish in Montreal, and Alex Albon was particularly upset, as he was in the top ten until the 52nd lap. But Carlos Sainz made a mistake, his car spun and hit Alex’s FW46, after which the Williams also spun, hitting the barrier coming out of Turn 7 with a stalled engine and broken suspension.

Alex Albon (meeting): “The end of today’s race couldn’t help but upset me. Absolutely, today we had to earn points because in these constantly changing conditions the car worked well on tires of all compounds.

We tried not to take unnecessary risks at all and the team was able to follow the plan drawn up for the race very well. As always, in such weather it was a struggle for survival, and in the end it all ended with us becoming victims of the mistakes of others. But this is racing and I don’t think I could have done it any other way.”

Logan Sargent (departure): “The conditions on the track were very difficult, especially at the start of the race, when there was still water on the asphalt. Hydroplaning started often and I tried to deal with it somehow. But he made too many mistakes and had to pay for two of them.

Very quickly the rear of the car went out of control and I didn’t have time to ‘catch’ the car. I’m dissatisfied with myself, because it seemed to me that I rode well this weekend. When we managed to complete a good lap, we were at a completely normal pace. But now we have to keep working and preparing for the next races.”
