A two-day test involving three teams using Pirelli’s prototype tyres for the 2025 season began at Silverstone on Tuesday.
Mick Schumacher drove a McLaren for the first time. The German driver is racing for Alpine in the WEC this season and is the reserve driver for Mercedes in Formula 1. Because McLaren uses Mercedes engines, the British team has called on Mick for testing.
With the MCL38, Schumacher completed 53 laps with a best time of 1:37.428 seconds.
Besides McLaren, Williams and Haas also participated in the tests. Alex Albon drove the maximum distance of the day, 86 laps, and his best time was 1:41.116 seconds.
The Haas was driven by the team’s reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi, who completed 62 laps with a best time of 1:42.124 seconds.
Testing continues on Wednesday. Lando Norris will replace Mick Schumacher at McLaren, Logan Sargent will drive for Williams and Oliver Berman will drive for Haas.
