Vasser believes Hamilton is more effective than Russell

The Belgian leg of the championship ended with an unexpected victory for Lewis Hamilton, although his Mercedes teammate crossed the finish line first at the Spa circuit. However, during the technical inspection it was found that the weight of George Russell’s car was less than the minimum allowed, which clearly meant disqualification, and the seven-time world champion inherited the first place.

However, it is worth stressing that Lewis was only 0.526 seconds behind him on track.

Next year, in his 19th season in Formula 1, Hamilton will don the Ferrari uniform, and Frederic Vasseur, the Italian team’s boss, can’t stop praising his future driver.

“Since the beginning of the season everyone says that Russell is faster than Hamilton, but at the moment it was Lewis who earned more points for Mercedes,” Vasseur said in an interview with Sky Italia. “I think that is a good argument for which one is the most efficient racer.”

We know the positive aspects associated with Lewis’s imminent arrival at Ferrari, including the importance of his vast experience in Formula 1.”

Currently, the Scuderia is not in the best position, with results that are not pleasing to the fans and inferior to McLaren in the team standings. However, Vasseur said that Ferrari will try to make up for it in the second half of the championship: “We lost two months (upgrading the car), but we already have alternative solutions ready, so we remain positive.

Charles Leclerc has had some problems in the last few stages, but I still think he is a great driver and the point is that as a team we sometimes make mistakes.”
