Webber: Piastri understands that actions speak louder than words

Oscar Piastri understands that it is better to demonstrate speed on track than to talk about it in press interviews, says Mark Webber, manager of the Australian McLaren driver.

Oscar has only spent 36 races in Formula 1 so far, but he is already being talked about as a future world champion and, according to Webber, he stands out for his very correct psychological attitude.

“It’s a pleasure to work with him. Of course he’s an incredibly talented racer,” Mark said in an interview with PlanetF1. “He knows what he has to do to continue to show that talent in the future. I can’t stand the word potential. Whatever this ‘potential’ is, you have to validate it, and he understands that actions are always better than words – that’s exactly how he acts.

The drivers in the leading group have a lot of experience, especially when you consider how difficult this generation of cars are to drive, but the fact that Oscar regularly finishes in the top five speaks for itself.

In addition, other opportunities were missed for various reasons, because to be successful everything has to be done correctly, and we also saw that in the example of Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton when he won the race at Silverstone.”

The best confirmation of Webber’s words was his department’s victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix, and he is pleased that Oscar is continuing the Australian traditions in Formula 1, which have been established over the past 65 years, since Jack Brabham took his first world championship victory in 1959 and won the title that same year.

“I think it all started with Jack Brabham, he was the first to show us this path,” added Webber.
