On the Formula For Success podcast, Alpine consultant Flavio Briatore spoke about his return to Enstone…
Flavio Briatore: “I knew it [исполнительного директора Renault Group] Luca de Meo long before he joined Renault. When he joined the team, I gave him some advice: “Formula 1 is a very difficult business and the people you have are not good enough.” He didn’t listen to me.
Three years later Luca called me, we met and he said: “Our team and I are in total trouble.” And I replied: “Luka, Formula 1 is a different business. The team cannot be run like a company, there is no need for bureaucracy, it needs people who are dedicated to Formula 1.
He invited me to come back and we started talking about it. I know the team, I know the base in Enstone, I know everything – why I didn’t come back. But I wanted to live in England – one day a week would be enough, I didn’t want to come to every Grand Prix.
I returned to my old team, with whom we won seven championships. And this is a new challenge, this is a new motivation. I am very happy to be back. We have a new team leader: Oliver Oakes. Luca, me and Oliver, now we work together. Give me two years and I promise that Alpine will have a podium in 2027.”
