Team vehicles and equipment “Haas” will remain in the Netherlands, where the Formula 1 championship round took place this weekend, until the legal dispute with Russian company Uralkali is finally settled, reports crash.net in reference to a team representative.
Earlier, information emerged that Uralkali, before the Dutch Grand Prix, had appealed to the North Holland District Court in Haarlem, demanding that the cars and equipment be confiscated from Haas. The company wants to receive from the team compensation that the court ordered it to pay after the termination of the sponsorship contract.
As reported, the American team will store its equipment at the Zandvoort track until Uralkali confirms receipt of payment. The document states that a refund of about $9 million was made on Friday, but Uralkali is still waiting to receive the money.
Uralkali was the title sponsor of Haas from 2021 to 2022. The agreement between the parties was terminated earlier than expected due to the situation in Ukraine at that time, Uralkali had already paid the team most of the sponsorship money for that year. In June 2024, the arbitration court examined the dispute between Uralkali and the American team under the Swiss arbitration rules and awarded compensation to the Russian company. All counterclaims of the team were dismissed.
