Haas Team Driver Kevin Magnussen will not participate in the next round of the Formula 1 championship in Baku due to a disqualification for a traffic violation at the Italian Grand Prix, the Royal Races press service reports.
The Dane was penalised following a collision with Alpine driver Pierre Gasly during the race at Monza. Stewards deemed Magnussen to be at fault for the incident as he failed to drive the car “in a safe and controlled manner during the manoeuvre”.
The Haas driver finished 10th at the Italian Grand Prix but was given an additional two penalty points on his superlicence for the incident with Gasly. He now has 12 penalty points for the year, meaning he will have to miss one race.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place in Baku from September 13 to 15.
