Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei has listed countries showing increasing interest in hosting a Formula 1 stage at an investor conference held by Goldman Sachs. According to Maffei, new races are possible, but only if promoters pay the right price.
Greg Maffei: “If our current audience growth continues, payments for the sale of broadcast rights will also increase.
In addition, we continue to see interest from promoters. South Korea, Thailand, Rwanda and South Africa all want to host the race. The possibility of holding the Grand Prix in these countries is very real at prices that are attractive to us.
We must not forget the pressure on existing promoters that we have created by organizing a successful stage in Las Vegas and Miami. These races have set the bar high and other promoters must work harder to match this.”
