RB confirmed Ricciardo’s resignation and he will be replaced by Liam Lawson for the remaining races until the end of the season.
Liam has been Red Bull’s reserve driver since 2022 and made his Grand Prix debut at Zandvoort last year while Ricciardo was recovering from his accident. In five races he earned points for the team and finished ninth in the Singapore GP.
Laurent MekiesTeam manager: “Everyone at RB is grateful to Daniel for his hard work over the past two seasons. He brought a wealth of experience and talent to the team, as well as a fantastic work ethic that helped everyone develop and strengthen the team spirit. Daniel was a true gentleman both on and off the track and was never without a smile. He will be missed and will always hold a special place in the Red Bull family.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Liam. He is already familiar with the team. He played for us last season and did well in difficult circumstances, so it’s a logical step for him. It’s great to see young talent from the Red Bull family moving forward. We look forward to being able to fully concentrate on the rest of the season.”
