Today, three Formula 3 teams almost simultaneously named the names of drivers who will either continue to participate in this youth series or will make their debut next year.
ART Grand Prix confirmed that 19-year-old Laurens van Hopen will remain in the French team in 2025 – this will be the Dutchman’s second season in Formula 3. And in the year of his debut he stood on the podium three times, including in the very first racing season and finished the youth championship in 13th place in the personal rankings.
17-year-old Noah Stromstedt will move from Campos Racing to Trident and become Charlie Wurtz’s partner – thus the Dane became the second driver with whom the Italian team signed a contract. It was in his composition that Leonardo Fornaroli performed, this year he won the title and now he will continue his career in Formula 2.
In 2021, Stromsted became vice-champion of the national Danish Formula 4, this year he took part in the European Formula Regional and took 8th place, but at the end of the season he managed to spend a few races in F3 for Trident. However, without much success, although this is forgivable for a beginner. Let’s see how he does next year.
And at Hitech, a racer from China, Gerard Xi, is making his debut, who is actually Xi Yonglin, but this is the second year he has competed under that name in Europe. In 2022, he became Chinese F4 Champion and also took 2nd place in the Macau Grand Prix, after which he competed in the British GB3 series and Euroformula Open.
This year he won a race in GB3 and achieved another podium finish, finishing the season in 7th place, but now he must take the next step in his career. He will certainly try to follow the example of his compatriot Guanyu Zhou, who became the first representative of Chinese motorsport in Formula 1. But first Gerard has to show what he is capable of in the youth series.
