Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has appointed a driver who has the potential to replace Max Verstappen in the future. We are talking about 13-year-old Red Bull youth program participant Rocco Coronel, the son of famous European touring racer Tom Coronel.
Helmut Marko: “Rocco really surprised us. He is 13 years old and now younger than Max Versteppen when we started working with Max. There are some good young riders, but Rocco is absolutely exceptional for his age.
He is already quite mature and confident. He has a rather overbearing father, but everyone in the Netherlands seems to be like that. But when Tom fell silent during our meeting, Rocco was able to talk about himself.
I’m impressed with the way he balances racing and school. I’m sure we already have a successor for Max, in case Max ever leaves the team.”
