Christian Horner increases the pressure on Sergio Perez

We’ve already quoted Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, who said Max Verstappen could have a young teammate in place of Sergio Perez next season. On the eve of the American Grand Prix, team leader Christian Horner also increased the pressure on the Mexican driver.

Asked about Red Bull Racing’s 2025 line-up, Horner said: “We urgently need answers. If you look at our rivals, Ferrari will have a very strong line-up next year in the form of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. In addition, McLaren will also have a strong line-up.

We have to ensure that there is not a big speed difference between our riders, because we simply cannot afford that.”

With six rounds before the end of the season, Red Bull Racing is 41 points behind McLaren in the constructors’ championship and is counting on Sergio Perez to earn a lot of points. The last time a Mexican driver finished in the top five was at the Miami Grand Prix in early May.
