Sainz: There are only two cars ahead – it’s going to be fun!

In Austin the Ferrari cars are fast in all sessions, the team is quite happy with how everything is going…

Carlos Sainz (3rd): “For qualifying we set ourselves the goal of improving compared to Friday. Yesterday I was fifth in qualifying, today I was third – we have taken a step in the right direction.

I was a little disappointed with the last lap because going into Turn 16 I was three tenths faster than before, but it’s now easy to say that we could have done better.

We have made good progress. If we get a good start, we can fight for victory tomorrow. There are only two cars ahead – it’s going to be fun!”

Charles Leclerc (4th): “We have a high race pace, but I think the competitors were able to improve their car after the sprint. We haven’t changed the settings much and we expect our speed in the race to be the same as in the sprint, which is good. It is important to have a successful start. I hope that after the first round we can look forward and not look back.

In qualifying we had problems in the first sector and at the moment we don’t have a ready-made solution. But I already said that we are quite fast on the race distance, so I am optimistic. Those three or four corners where we lost time in qualifying will not be so noticeable in the race.”
