In Austin, the American Haas F1 team looked pretty good. Kevin Magnussen scored points in Saturday’s sprint and Nico Hulkenberg in Sunday’s race.
Nico Hulkenberg (8th): “I am very satisfied. This time we made the most of it and at the end of the race I even came close to Red Bull’s Perez.
After the start the tires didn’t work, but then everything got better and I was able to stretch the first segment, which allowed me to get a good result.”
Kevin Magnussen (11th): “Today we didn’t earn a single point, although we had good chances. We were confident that we could finish the race with one pit stop, but that didn’t work out.”
Ayo KomatsuTeam boss: “A mixed result, but it was nice to earn points for eighth place with Nico. He managed tire wear with confidence and successfully implemented a one-stop strategy.
In Kevin’s case it was the other way around. His basic strategy included two pit stops, but communication problems arose late in the race.
I believe that we should have earned points with two cars today. We are sixth in the Constructors’ Championship, there are five rounds to go, the car is fast – we will aim for more.”
