Alpine F1 has officially confirmed that the team’s cars will be equipped with Mercedes engines and gearboxes from 2026.
The contract for the supply of power plants has a term of five years, until the end of 2030 – it was previously announced that the management of the Renault group had decided to curtail the program for the production of its own engines for Formula 1.
As for gearboxes, the championship’s official website, citing sources, writes that Alpine plans to start producing its own gearboxes at the team base in Enstone by 2027.
So far, Alpine F1’s press office has only released a brief statement:
“The team has signed agreements with Mercedes-Benz on power units and gearboxes. Under a multi-year agreement, Mercedes will supply Alpine engines during the period of the new technical regulations, starting in 2026 and at least until 2030.
In addition to the drivetrains, Alpine will also receive gearboxes from Mercedes from 2026.
The team will continue to strive to perform as well as possible in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.”
