Brundle responds to Verstappen’s accusations of bias

Jos and Max Verstappen sometimes accuse the British press of bias. Former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sport F1 commentator Martin Brundle has responded to these allegations.

Martin Brundle: “I’m British. I am a former British Formula 1 driver and work mainly for a British broadcaster. Others broadcast our broadcasts all over the world.

When I watch the Olympic Games, the World Cup or the European Championships, the commentators fervently support the country they come from. We don’t do that. I like to think we have a balanced approach. I really think so.

We are criticized by almost everyone, in these 27-28 years I have learned well that you can say a thousand positive words and one negative about a person, and this is exactly what his fans, family or friends will convey to the hero.

Sometimes I catch cold looks under my eyebrows. No one will ever come up and say, “Thank you so much for what you said about us.” Although this happened once. Many years ago in Malaysia, Nico Rosberg once said: “I want to thank you for what you said about me last weekend.”

I replied, “Thank you, I really appreciate it because you’re the first racer to ever say something like that to me.” I asked what exactly he liked. He replied, “I don’t know. My mother told me to thank you.” Not a single rider has thanked me since.”
