Alfa Romeo considers the Italian weekend their home race, even though it is actually a Swiss team. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou have had a good training session, fully completing Friday’s schedule and gathering a large amount of information that the team’s engineers will have to analyze in preparation for qualifying.
Valtteri Bottas (13th): “The feeling is not bad, Monza is an interesting track and it is even more pleasant to drive when the car works well, like today. In terms of pace, it looks like we’re doing better than in the previous two stages, so preparations for Sunday are encouraging.
We still have to work with the settings, but it seems to me that we are not so noticeably below the level we want to be at. Let’s try to add at least a little. It seems that our pace is still higher than where we are now, especially given the penalties. But I think we will be able to catch up on Sunday and regain positions.
I hope the series of races where we didn’t earn points ends and we get back to the top ten.
Guanyu Zhou (12th): “On this track we immediately proved to be quite competitive, which is good. I can say that the car makes a better impression compared to the previous weekend in Zandvoort.
I am pleased with the progress made, but we understand that there is still a lot of work to be done. Overall the results are again very tight – on a track like Monza two tenths can make a very big difference in the results. Tomorrow’s qualifying battle promises to be very exciting, but we must do everything we can to prepare ourselves as best we can for tomorrow.
