After numerous failures, the head of the Ferrari team has been criticized more than once, but in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport journalists, Ferrari chairman John Elkann publicly supported Mattia Binotto…
John Elkann: “We have full confidence in Mattia Binotto and appreciate everything he and our engineers have done, but there is no doubt that everything should work better in Maranello, in the pits, in the pit lane and behind the wheel.
We have to keep making progress, and this goes for everyone – mechanics, engineers, racers, the entire management team, including the team leader. We make too many mistakes when it comes to reliability, strategy and piloting.
The decision to trust Binotto and his team was the right one, it paid off. Thanks to them we have become competitive and we are winning races again, but I can’t be satisfied because I think we can always do better. But our first goal was competitiveness. If you’re not fast enough, you can’t win and you can keep working on reliability at any time.
I believe that by 2026 Ferrari will win the titles again in the individual competition and the constructors’ championship. We are lucky to have two great drivers, possibly the strongest pair of drivers in Formula 1.”
