Verstappen called Dutch Grand Prix qualifying pole position ‘unbelievable’ given training issues

The Dutch PilotRed Bull » Max Verstappen considers his victory in qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix incredible amid the problems he faced in practice the day before.

The reigning world champion clocked 1 minute 10.342 seconds and was 0.021 seconds ahead of second-placed Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc of Monaco. On September 2, during the first free practice, Verstappen was forced to finish the race earlier than expected due to gearbox problems.

– Unbelievable. Especially after yesterday. We had a difficult day, but we worked very well all night with the whole team to make things right.

Today we had a fast car again, but the fight was very intense. We have changed a lot because yesterday, before the second practice session, we were in a hurry to put the car together,” Verstappen said as quoted by Sky Sports.

Verstappen leads the league with 284 points and is 93 points clear of Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez of Mexico.

The Dutch Grand Prix will take place on September 4. From 4:00 p.m. (Moscow time).
