In an interview with Corriere della Sera, former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi disagreed with those calling for the resignation of Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto…
Jean Alesi: “Honestly, I was sure that Leclerc could win the race after a crazy qualifying session. It didn’t work out this time, but I still want to say a few kind words about Mattia Binotto.
I admire his justice, he is a true leader and always protects his people. This is the only correct approach. For example, no one knows the name of the designer who went wrong when designing this year’s Mercedes car. Nor should anyone know exactly who makes mistakes at Ferrari under pressure.
As a fan of the team, I am convinced that Binotto will be able to make the team stronger. Both in terms of strategy, where a more aggressive approach could be useful, and to work optimally with the settings, which Red Bull is now doing better.
I am confident that the reliability issues that plagued this year will soon be resolved and that Ferrari will be able to race with a reliable power plant. A lot needs to be improved, but really only minor adjustments are needed.”
