Sauber receives three-star environmental accreditation

The FIA has a special program that determines the environmental impact of companies operating in the motorsport and automotive industries. McLaren was the first of the Formula 1 teams to receive the highest rating – three stars – in 2013, and today Sauber Motorsport (the team competes in Formula 1 under the Alfa Romeo brand) has confirmed the same status.

Sauber Motorsport supplies locally generated renewable energy to the base in Hinwil, fully offsetting CO2 emissions through reforestation and conservation projects, including flights for workers, and fleet renewal.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi, Managing Director of the Sauber Group: “Achieving a three-star FIA environmental accreditation is an outstanding achievement and further confirmation of our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint.

For more than a decade, our company has been committed to total emissions neutrality through an increasingly broad range of initiatives as part of our sustainability program. I am proud of this achievement and how it reflects our commitment to our planet and the people who live on it.”
