On the machines of Lance Stroll, Alexander Albon and Valtteri Bottas, elements of the gearbox were replaced. The document, signed by FIA Technical Delegate Joe Bauer, states the following:
Stroll’s Aston Martin, Elbon’s Williams and Bottas’ Alfa Romeo have had their gearbox housings and cassettes replaced (a complete mechanism including gears, shafts, synchronizers and other rotating parts, as well as a shifting mechanism).
In 2022, each rider may use four gearboxes and four cassettes (Article 29.2c of the Sporting Regulations).
At the same time, additional gearbox components were also replaced on the Stroll and Elbon machines – in the GBX DL category, the technical regulations include a number of different types of components that do not belong to the gearbox, but are directly related to its operation . Each rider can also use four sets of such components per season.
