Former Sochi coach Sergei Svetlov told that he did not have time to get to know the father of hockey team player Matvey Michkov.
On Tuesday, April 4, the father of Russian hockey player Matvey Michkov was found dead, Michkov Sr. was 51 years old. Earlier, reported that Andrei Michkov moved out of a rented apartment in Adler on Sunday evening. Matvey Michkov, whose rights belong to SKA, has been playing for Sochi since last December. Svetlov coached Sochi in the 2022/23 season.
We had little time to get to know each other, only a few days. I would like to express my condolences to all the relatives and, above all, to Matvey, who was very close to his father. I would like to wish him to survive this tragedy, to understand that life does not end there. Matvey and dad were always there, walking together, helping each other. I don’t know how Matvey will react, if he can take this blow. But still, the boy is already an adult, he will find the strength to cope. I would like to wish him that the death of his father still does not break him, he still has his whole career ahead of him, in which he must now fight not only for himself, but also for the memory of his father. I understand that it hurts a lot now, it’s an irreparable loss, but, I repeat, life does not end there, ”Svetlov told a correspondent.
Andrey Michkov’s farewell ceremony will take place on April 6 in Adler. Then his body will be delivered by plane to Perm. By decision of the family, he will be buried in his native country in the city of Kungur.
