Athletistic/Hockey. The national teams of Hungary and Slovenia, participants in the 2023 World Cup, could not stay in the elite division of the tournament and left it. In the next season of the 2024 World Cup, they will be replaced by the teams of Poland and Great Britain.
Hungary have made seven appearances in the World Cup, earning just one overtime win against France with a 3-2 scoreline. In other matches, the team was beaten by Denmark, USA, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Austria.
Slovenia, playing in Group B, lost all seven matches with an aggregate goal difference of 9:27. Its rivals were Norway, Kazakhstan, Slovakia, Latvia, Canada, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
For the first time since 2002, the Polish national team returned to the elite division of the Ice Hockey World Championship. For its part, Great Britain played in the top flight in 2022.
