World champion with the Canadian ice hockey team Jason Spezza Appointed deputy general manager “Pittsburgh Penguins” reported on to place club NHL .
In late May 2022, Spezza retired from hockey and was named special assistant to Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas. During the playoffs last season, Dubas left Toronto and was named president of hockey operations for Pittsburgh.
“After a colorful playing career, Jason immersed himself in management, learning all aspects of hockey while in Toronto. He demonstrated ethics, curiosity and the ability to build relationships across all departments. His transition to management also helped the hockey operations department, coaching staff, and playing team become more cohesive. We are very happy Jason has joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as he will add perspective to our club. We are thrilled to see him unleash his managerial potential,” Dubas said.
Spetsze is 40 years old, during his career he scored 995 (363 + 632) points in 1248 games in the NHL. The forward played for Ottawa, Dallas and Toronto.
As a member of the Canadian national team, Spezza became world champion (2015) and also won the World Cup silver medal twice (2008, 2009).
