Before the start of a friendly hockey match between the Moscow “Spartacus » and Cherepovets «Severstal » the teams honored the memory Rodion Amirov a minute of silence.
The meeting takes place in Moscow on Wednesday 16 August.
On Monday, the death of Amirov, 21, was reported by officer Dan Milstein. In February 2022, the then 20-year-old hockey player was diagnosed with a brain tumor; in April of the same year, the player underwent chemotherapy courses.
Amirov graduated from Salavat Yulaev. He has 10 goals and eight assists in 79 KHL games. Amirov was selected 15th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by Toronto. In April 2021, the Russian signed a three-year rookie contract with the Canadian club.
The new KHL season kicks off on September 1 with the opening Cup game between CSKA and Ak Bars.
