Former Lokomotiv and Russian national team goalkeeper Egor Podomatsky I talked about working with a trainer Sergei Nikolaev in Yaroslavl “Torpedo”.
Nikolaev, who died in 2013, worked with the team in the 1980s and 1990s. The Torpedo Sports Palace in Yaroslavl is named after him.
— What is your most memorable moment working with Sergei Nikolaev? It was my first experience at the adult level, so every day was memorable. I came to Torpedo when I was young and every training session was like a vacation. All his phrases and proverbs were slogans, I will not give examples (laughs), “Championship quotes Podomatsky.”
Egor Podomatsky is a bronze medalist at the 2002 Olympic Games and a silver medalist at the 2002 World Championships. He is now part of the technical staff of Sibir.
