Alexander Ovechkin set a scoring record in his third consecutive NHL game

The Russian attackerWashington Capitals » Alexander Ovechkin set a club record for the US capital by scoring in the third consecutive match at the age of 38.

Washington lost to Florida 2-4 at Sunrise. Ovechkin scored his eleventh goal of the season late in the first period. Ovechkin scored for the third straight game, setting a Washington record for longest scoring streak for a player 38 or older.

Ovechkin increased his NHL goal total to 833, closing the gap on Wayne Gretzky’s record of 61 goals. The 38-year-old Russian ranks second on the list of top scorers in league history, followed by Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).

This season, Ovechkin has 33 points (11 goals + 22 assists) in 46 games.
