Top scorer in KHL history Sergei Moziakine told how he decided to leave the technical staff of Magnitogorsk “Metallurgist “
Magnitogorsk is holding a championship parade on Friday. The Ural team won the Gagarin Cup in April by beating Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the final (4-0).
— We hear that you will play youth hockey again at the club. How did it happen?
— We initially had such an agreement last season that I would be part of the coaching staff, and then we would decide what happens next. And I decided that figuratively speaking, I was leaving the main team to continue taking care of the children.
But as head coach Andrei Razin said, we are building a new coaches room and they are preparing a chair for me there. Of course, I have my own office. But we will continue to communicate closely with the coaches, exchanging opinions as often as possible.
— It is difficult to understand how it was possible to leave the champion headquarters of the KHL club.
— But there are many areas of work in Magnitogorsk. There is an academy, there is a school. This interests me very much and I want to do something new for children. I hope that in a few years our academy will be completed and the level of hockey in the city will increase even more.
— Alexey Zhamnov heads the Spartak academy and works as a head coach in the KHL.
“Maybe it’s possible to combine them.” But for me everything is still new, for me such a combination is now impossible.
