The Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) announced the termination of agreements with the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) on the delegation of hosting rights for the Russian Hockey Championship among men’s and women’s teams and the Russian Hockey Championship among juniors under 21.
Earlier, the KHL sent a letter to the FHR with a proposal to terminate the agreement on the delegation of rights to host the national hockey championships between men’s and women’s teams and the Russian hockey championship among juniors under 21 on terms previously agreed with the FHR.
— Based on the results of the discussion, it was decided to follow up on the call and terminate the contracts as of August 1, 2024, subject to compliance with essential conditions, including:
— mutual respect for contracts of hockey players playing in KHL and FHR competitions;
— release of hockey players playing in the KHL to participate in the Olympic Games, World Championships, World Junior Championships (U20), World Junior Championships (U18), as well as planning breaks in the schedule of World Championships and Olympic Games in case of participation of Russian national teams in them;
— to ensure that each KHL hockey club has a children’s school with teams of at least eight ages (from 8 to 16 years), who must participate in FHR competitions, says a statement from the FHR press service.
It is worth noting that the Russian championships among men’s and women’s teams, as well as the Russian hockey championship among juniors under 21, will be organized by the Russian Hockey Federation.
