Athletistic / Hockey. August 14 marks exactly one year since the death of former Salavat Yulaev striker Rodion Amirov. The Ufa club honored the memory of its pupil.
“Rodion Amirov was a bright, friendly and positive guy, loved by everyone. He forever wrote his name in the history of Salavat Yulaev, and the number 27 was withdrawn from circulation in our club. Now it is forever assigned to our pupil. Remember and we love you, Rodion!” – says a statement from the press service of Ufa residents.
On August 14, his agent Dan Milstein announced the death of Rodion Amirov. In February 2022, the Russian was diagnosed with a brain tumor and in April of the same year, the player underwent chemotherapy courses.
Amirov has 79 KHL regular season appearances, scoring 10 goals and eight assists. Amirov was selected 15th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. In April 2021, he managed to sign a three-year rookie contract with the Leafs.
