Former strikerMetallurgist » Maxim Karpov said that a week after winning the Gagarin Cup he realized he would leave the Magnitogorsk team.
Karpov won the Gagarin Cup as a member of Metallurg in the 2023/24 season. Novosibirsk “Sibir” announced on August 5 that it had signed a two-year contract with the forward.
— When did you realize that your paths with Magnitogorsk would diverge?
“I think the agent told me about it a week after the playoffs ended, if I’m not mistaken.
– All this time, they were looking for ways to trade you?
– I didn’t want to be changed, depending, again, on the type of team it was. But they didn’t offer anything.
“I thought there should have been options.”
“I had them, but not Magnitogorsk (laughs),” Karpov said, as quoted by Championship.
The new season of the FONBET KHL Championship starts on September 3.
