Defending Stanley Cup champion retires

Attack Kyle Okposo announced his retirement, the NHL website reports.

In the 2023-24 season, Okposo, 36, won the Stanley Cup with Florida. In the playoffs, he played 17 games in which he provided two assists.

“It was just nice to sit back and reflect on the journey I’ve been on over the last 30 years. It takes time to understand how much this trophy means to me,” Okposo is quoted as saying on the NHL website.

Before Florida, Okposo played for the Islanders and Buffalo. In the NHL, he played 1,051 games and scored 614 points (242+372).
