Toronto sent Gagarin Cup winner Grebenkin to the AHL

Toronto Maple Leafs transferred the Russian attacker Nikita Grebenkina at the Toronto Marlies farm club, which plays in the AHL, according to the team’s website.

Last season, the 21-year-old striker won the Gagarin Cup with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. He scored 41 (19+22) points in 67 KHL regular season games, adding 6 (3+3) points in 23 playoff games. On April 29, the hockey player signed a three-year entry-level contract with Toronto with an average salary of $875,000.

During the preparatory match against Ottawa (5:6 OT), Grebenkin fought with American forward Adam Gaudette.

The Toronto farm club will also have two Russian goalkeepers – Vyacheslav Peksa and Artur Akhtyamov.

The new NHL season began on October 4. In the first match, New Jersey defeated Buffalo with a score of 4: 1. The meeting took place in Prague.
