Ukraine completed the 2022 World Judo Championship with one award

Bronze medal for 18-year-old Elizaveta Litvinenko

Judo team of Ukraine completed World Cup 2022 in Tashkent with one medal.

The only award was won by 18-year-old Elizaveta Litvinenko (up to 78 kg), who sensationally defeated the current Olympic champion, Japanese Sori Hamada, in the fight for bronze.

At the previous two World Championships, Ukraine also took one medal. In 2019, Daria Beloded won gold, and in 2021 Yakov Khammo won bronze.

Three leaders of the Ukrainian team – Daria Beloded, Bogdan Yadov and Yakov Khammo – were close to the medal in Tashkent, but did not make it to the bronze duels.

The Japanese national team led the medal count at the eighth World Judo Championships in a row, winning 13 medals, of which six were gold. Ukraine finished the tournament in 19th position.
