The FIS has modified the competition program for the second stage of the Cross-Country World Cup due to the lack of snow

The International Ski Federation (FIS) has made changes to the competition schedule for the second stage of the Cross-Country World Cup in Lillehammer, Norway, according to the official FIS website.

The stage in Norway will take place from December 2 to 4, it will include individual races, sprints and a mass start in the classic style. Initially, a skiathlon was planned, but the organizers decided that the mass start “is less demanding on the width and preparation of the track, as well as the amount of snow required”.

Earlier in November, the FIS postponed the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup from Milan to Livigno (Italy) due to rising electricity prices. Additionally, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) canceled the first stage of the IBU Cup in Shushen, Norway due to lack of snow.

The first stage of the Cross-Country World Cup will take place in Finland’s Ruka from November 25-27.
