Salnikov: ‘Domestic competitions have reached a high level, the organization of the Czech Republic resembles a World Cup’

President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov said that the Russian short-water swimming championship is comparable in terms of organization to the world championship, and in terms of results it is the best in Russian history.

The Russian short course swimming championship ended in Kazan. It took place as part of the Friendship Games. During these starts, Kliment Kolesnikov set a world record, Maria Kameneva and Evgenia Chikunova became European record holders. A number of athletes topped the short course world rankings.

“The more difficult our situation, the stronger we become. It’s good that national competitions have reached such a level. In terms of organization and design, this Russian championship was at the level of the world championship. Everyone tried to make it such a high level show and the athletes felt the vibe, didn’t let them down. If we talk about records, this is the most brilliant Russian championship we have had. There are a lot of record holders and it’s not the end of the season. Follow the swimming, enjoy the performance of our athletes,” Salnikov told reporters.
