The IOC will consider the possibility of admitting athletes from Russia and Belarus to the 2024 Olympics

Athletes will be able to participate in the Paris Games after meeting strict conditions

International Olympic Committee (IOC) is ready to consider the possibility of admitting athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions, including Olympics 2024.

In this case, everyone who wishes will be required to act in a neutral status. Athletes will also be required to undergo individual screening.

One of the key points of admission to the Olympic Games-2024 concerns the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. The athlete should not be seen in support of the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

In addition, the IOC will check each athlete for compliance with the rules of the Olympic Charter and the World Anti-Doping Code. In case of non-compliance with the conditions, the participant will be removed from the competition.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron asked to ban the participation of representatives of the Russian Federation at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. However, the leaders of the Olympic Games rejected Zelensky’s call.

Recall that the Olympic Summit, chaired by IOC President Thomas Bach, unanimously agreed to accept the initiative proposed by the Olympic Council of Asia, allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to take part in its competitions.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. The mascots of the Summer Games were the Phrygian caps, which were named Phrygi.
