russian runner Svetlana Karamasheva suspended for 8 years for violating anti-doping rules, reports the press service of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF).
The 34-year-old athlete was sanctioned for violating paragraphs 4.1, 4.2 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules (“Presence of a prohibited substance, its metabolites or markers in an athlete’s sample”, “Use or attempt to ‘Use by an Athlete of a Prohibited Substance or a Prohibited Method’).
Karamasheva’s disqualification period will expire on June 16, 2029. All athlete results posted since the date of the positive doping test (February 10, 2021) have been voided.
Karamasheva specializes in medium and long distance running. In January 2018, it was announced that the athlete was disqualified for 2.5 years for deviations in blood passport indicators. Her results were canceled from July 14, 2012 to August 6, 2014. In 2013 and 2014, she became Russian champion in the 1500 meters.
