Athletistic/ Others. For a long time, the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympics, European and World Championships and other international competitions was commonplace. However, things often happen in life that could not have been imagined in advance. However, in 2022 such things have happened. Most Russian athletes have been suspended from international competitions. The IOC gave a recommendation to the international federations of various sports, and they hastened to execute it. In addition, Belarusian athletes were suspended from competition.
From time to time, the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, has made statements about the fact that it was too early to review the sanctions against the athletes. However, this year the rhetoric has changed dramatically. In January, calls began to be heard for Russian and Belarusian athletes to begin partial admission to international competitions.
Today, March 28, it was all about more details. The IOC said it was postponing a decision on the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus. At the same time, the organization made a number of recommendations to international federations of various sports. They consist in the fact that certain athletes should be allowed to compete, and in particular at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. However, it is worth doing, observing a number of conditions.
First of all, athletes can only be admitted in neutral status. Secondly, there is no question of team sports – only representatives of individual sports will be able to compete on the international stage. It is also recommended that only athletes who have not supported a special military operation be admitted. In addition, there is talk about the non-admission of athletes who have a connection with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The ban on organizing competitions in Russia is also in force.
Many Russian sports fans reacted to the IOC’s statement. They left their comments in the group Match TV on Vkontakte. Many consider the proposed terms to be humiliating. Although there are those who have the opposite view.
Mikhail Chensov:
– Again, they will come out with a white scarf. If they want it.
Ruslan Sarovsky:
– With such conditions, but the IOC would not agree with Bach.
Konstantin Yakimov:
– True, but what else should they do, otherwise the sport without the Russian Federation is at the court level !!!
Abdulaziz Pirov:
– Here, some sages offer athletes to perform despite all the conditions: without an anthem, without a flag, without a coat of arms! Coldness!!! The guys, the real ones, are dying for the country’s flag, coat of arms and anthem, fighting against these countries that offer you to raise your hands and bend over to fuck better! How come, said one of the post-Soviet “athletes”: your expectations, your problems!
Ruslan Pivovarov:
– I hope you have enough pride not to accept these conditions.
Askar Jubaev:
– Purchased office. There are not even double standards, but as the owners say. They will say to give all the medals in the race to the swimmers – they will give it and don’t care about the results.
Ruslan Garipov:
– Essentially adequate measures. I hope this will help to make sport in Russia more private and not dependent on state structures.
Yuri Kruglov:
– Decision awaited. The weakest and most corrupt president in the history of the IOC. Now this cowardly creature will hand over all questions to the international federations, as was the case in Rio. And those will come out and do what they want. Bach washes his hands.
