Six seasons of the CS:GO tournament have been held since the summer of 2021
WePlay Esports announced a forced pause in the holding of tournaments on CS:GO among youth teams WePlay Academy League.
“Today we are forced to announce that the WePlay Academy League project is on pause until the end of the full-scale war in Ukraine. The experience of recent seasons has shown that in the current situation there are no proper conditions that would allow the next WAL seasons to be held at the appropriate level. As before, the safety of our employees and all participants of the tournament is a priority. This decision was made jointly with all participating organizations.”
“We do not say goodbye to the Academy, but only say “see you again”. Thanks for understanding. Support Ukraine,” reads the statement We Play Esports.
The WePlay Academy League tournament was founded in the summer of 2021. Since then, there have been six seasons. The playoff matches of the first two draws of the tournament were held in the LAN format at WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv in the capital of Ukraine.
The first four seasons of the WePlay Academy League were won by MOUZ NXT. Seasons 5 and 6 were dominated by Fnatic Rising and Young Ninjas, respectively.
