The International Wrestling Federation allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete

The Bureau of the association made a decision unanimously

International Wrestling Federation (UWW) allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes compete in their competitions in a neutral status. The Association Bureau unanimously made a decision at an unscheduled meeting.

The federation will form a commission to check the athletes’ compliance with the conditions set by the International Olympic Committee. The criteria and composition of the commission will be determined later. Athletes of older age categories will be subject to verification. Wrestlers under 17 will be able to compete in a neutral status without additional checks.

Earlier, the IOC Executive Board recommended the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions in a neutral status. At the same time, teams from Russia and Belarus, as well as athletes who support the war or have a contract with the armies of the Russian Federation or the Republic of Belarus, are not allowed to participate in the tournaments.

Earlier, Russians and Belarusians were admitted to international competitions by the Table Tennis and Taekwondo Federations. The International Fencing Federation decided to remove the ban from Russian athletes without waiting for the IOC meeting.

Recall, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to boycott the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which will allow Russian and Belarusian athletes. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has already responded to the decision of the Government of Ukraine to boycott the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
