Boxers can’t agree on fights
Promoter Frank Warren said that holding the fight this summer of the WBC champion Tyson Fury with former world champion Anthony Joshua practically torn down.
“AJ will fight in Dubai in December, that’s a priority for him. There is a free window in August, but his team is not too eager to fight at this time.”
“From the point of view of negotiations, there was nothing to worry about. The only question was whether Anthony’s side wanted to have this fight or not. Tyson is very holding the fight as he turned down the Usyk option. But Joshua chose not to take the fight, and that’s where we’re at right now.”
“The conditions for the fight have already been agreed upon. I don’t know why AJ can’t fight Fury in September and then Wilder in Dubai in December. If Wilder beats AJ, I don’t think the Fury-Joshua fight will happen because then AJ will lose to a man that Fury has beaten three times.”
Fury said earlier that he had sent Joshua a draft contract for the fight. Tyson’s team proposes to fight in September at Wembley.
Fury’s spokesman George Warren and Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn have already begun talks. Last year, the boxing teams also discussed a potential fight, but then the parties came to nothing.
Skill Challenge Entertainment plans to host a fight of champions Usyk-Fury and a face-to-face fight of two former world champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in the Middle East. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the deal could bring the boxers up to $400 million if a night with two top fights can be arranged.
