Belarusian athlete Skvortsova: “I like jumping in Russia. Koneva is a world-class competitor”

Belarusian triple jump athlete Violetta Skvortsova told that she enjoys participating in Russian competitions.

On Wednesday, Skvortsova became the winner of the Long Jump and Triple Jump Day, held as part of Moscow Athletics Week. The Belarusian jumper won with a score of 14.13 meters, the second was Russian Ekaterina Koneva (13.87), third place was taken by Russian Daria Nidbaykina (13.76).

– The weather conditions today were very difficult – the rain and wind were not in the back. Jumps turned out … You saw it all yourself. I stay here for the next departure – the Znamensky brothers memorial.

– A very tight schedule – until recently you performed in Sochi, and now there are two departures per week. Do you feel comfortable in such a schedule?

— I feel comfortable competing in such a short time. Still, the weather would show more distant meters. But still ahead, the season is just beginning.

– How do you like the rivalry with Ekaterina Koneva? You had a tight fight in Sochi, here everything was decided in the last attempts.

– I really like jumping in such conditions, when there are big rivals in the sector. Ekaterina is a world class competitor. I am very happy to perform in the sector, I feel comfortable.

– The daughters of famous Russian athletes, Maria Privalova and Anastasia Matveeva, also played with you. How to assess its level?

“I’m happy to be here. I feel here like in Belarus. It is clear that the rivalry is much stronger here. As for young girls, I am always happy when a new generation grows up. It’s very interesting to see their leaps and growth,” Skvortsova told .

Athletics Week takes place in Moscow from June 5-10. As part of it, show races with the participation of sports and media stars, a day of high jumps, a day of long and triple jumps, a day of sprints and the memorial of the Znamensky brothers are planned.
