IOC recommends withdrawal of International Boxing Association recognition

At the same time, boxing may remain in the program of the 2024 Olympic Games.

Executive Committee International Olympic Committee (IOC) Recommends Withdrawal of Recognition International Boxing Association (I.B.A.).

The decision on non-recognition of the Boxing Association should be taken on June 22 at an extraordinary session of the IOC. The Board concluded that the IBA did not meet all the requirements that were put before the organization.

At the same time, the IOC recommends that boxing be left in the program of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Russian Umar Kremlev remains the president of the IBA. His main opponent, the Dutchman Boris van der Voorst, was not allowed to vote.

Recall that the IBA allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions using national symbols. Due to the actions of the Association, Ukraine, Great Britain, the USA, Poland and a number of other countries refused to participate in the women’s and men’s world championships.

A new federation World Boxing has appeared in international amateur boxing. The body is headed by a Provisional Council of representatives from the federations of Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and the United States.
