World Aquatics approved Kirpichnikova’s change of sport citizenship from Russian to French

The International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) endorsed the World Swimming Championships medalist Anastasia Kirpichnikova change of sports nationality from Russian to French.

“After studying the documents submitted by the French Swimming Federation, as well as clarifications and additional documents, World Aquatics has approved the athlete’s request to change sport citizenship,” the international federation said in a statement quoted by The Team.

Kirpichnikova will be able to represent France at the World Championships in Fukuoka, which will take place from July 14 to 30.

At the end of April, the 22-year-old swimmer notified the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFTU) of her intention to change sports citizenship to French. Kirpichnikova has been training in France for over four years.

Kirpichnikova is a three-time European short course champion, World Championship silver medalist in the short course and also a European Championship medalist.
