The International Fencing Federation (FIE) has excluded Russian Valeria Kobzeva from the list of participants for the European Championship in Plovdiv, according to the official FIE website.
Earlier, the Russian Fencing Federation announced that Kobzeva and five other Russians will participate in the tournament in Bulgaria in a neutral status. However, now Kobzeva is not on the official list of participants.
The European Fencing Championship in individual competitions will take place from June 16 to 18.
In March, the FIE Congress authorized Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions in a neutral status, subject to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). On May 22, we learn that the FIE has granted neutral status to 17 Russian athletes. The final list did not include many leaders of the Russian fencing team.
