Olympic bronze medalist in track cycling Maria Novolodskaya told that she decided to terminate the contract with the Lifeplus Wahoo team due to her exclusion from international tournaments.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) previously denied Novolodskaya neutral status because of her CSKA membership.
— Did you write anything to the UCI, did you try to clarify the situation?
“And what to write?” They decided so. There was no need to argue. As an athlete, I’ve been everywhere, I’ve participated everywhere, I have no regrets or frustrations. There is such a situation in the world. I will open it – that would be great, no – what can I do.
– Did you terminate the contract with the team?
– Yes. For the team, it wouldn’t make sense. They supported me. The team is good, they met halfway, they talked to me.
– Did you break up?
– They saw with tears. They gave a card – everyone wrote their wishes on it. It was touching,” Novolodskaya told .
