Ukrainian is in the status of a free agent
Ukrainian central defender Dmitry Chygrinsky announced his departure from the Greek Ionikos and spoke about possible options for continuing his career.
Yes, I am a free agent now. It was written in our contract with Ionikos that if the team goes down in class, then the agreement will automatically terminate. This is common practice. Ionikos now has lower opportunities, while the players have different ambitions. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain a residence permit in the elite division.
I remember when I successfully played for AEK, I had options to continue my career in China, Japan and the UAE. But I refused. Then the priorities were different: I wanted to perform in Europe. AEK played in the Champions League and the Europa League and I wanted to play at that level for as long as possible.
But at the age of 36, my position has changed, and I am ready for new challenges. I will not refuse to get new experience in another country. I’m not going to guess far, you need to go step by step. Now I feel good and am in good shape.
If there is any specifics from India or Indonesia, I am ready to move in this direction. That was a few weeks ago and they haven’t been in contact since. Perhaps they took a break, or I didn’t fit the age, or they need a different player profile, ”said Chygrynsky.
Last season, the Ukrainian played 26 matches for Ionikos, in which he scored one goal.
Earlier it was reported that two clubs of the championship of Ukraine were interested in the player’s services. Teams from Greece and Asia also want to see the defender.
In the past, Chygrynskiy played for Zaporozhye Metallurg, Shakhtar, Dnepr and Greek AEK. As part of the Ukrainian national team, he played 29 matches.
