Five-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Johannes Klebo declared himself ready to sacrifice his performance at the World Cup next season to participate in the 2025 World Cup.
Previously, Klebo had turned down a place in the Norwegian national team and continued to support himself and train with a personal trainer. Current rules do not allow athletes to participate in the World Cup outside of the national team. Klebo expressed hope to still be able to participate in international competitions.
– As I said, I still have to prepare for the 2025 World Cup, which is my big goal. The preparation is slow, but thorough – with the desire to do their job as well as possible, with the hope that health will not fail and everything will turn out well.
Of course, the upcoming winter season is important, given the Tour de Ski and other starts, but there is nothing more important than the 2025 World Cup, and if I should miss the World Cup the next season, I will,” Klebo Citations Ski‑Nordique.
The Norwegian is also a four-time World Cup winner and nine-time world champion.
